These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Insulin Dose Calculator web application ("Application", "App"). By accessing or using the App in any way — including viewing, entering data, or reading results — you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms in their entirety. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

Nature and Purpose of the Application

This App is a mathematical calculation tool for informational purposes only. It applies values you enter (glucose, carbs, ICR, ISF, target glucose) to a standard bolus formula and returns a numeric output. This output is not a dosing recommendation, not medical advice, and not a substitute for clinical judgment.

The App does not account for: active insulin on board (IOB), glycaemic index of foods, physical activity, illness, stress, hormonal variation, pump settings, or any other physiological factor. Results must be verified by you and your healthcare professional before any action is taken.

The Application is a mathematical calculation tool provided solely for informational purposes. It applies user-supplied values (current glucose, carbohydrate intake, ICR, ISF, and target glucose) to a standard bolus formula and returns a numeric output. This output is not a dosing recommendation, not medical advice, and not a substitute for clinical judgment. The Application does not account for: active insulin on board (IOB), glycaemic index of foods, physical activity, illness, stress, hormonal variation, pump settings, or any other physiological factor that affects insulin response. Results must be verified by the user and their healthcare professional before any action is taken. The Application is expressly not a medical device within the meaning of EU Regulation 2017/745 (MDR), EU Regulation 2017/746 (IVDR), the U.S. Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act), or any equivalent national legislation.

No Medical Advice — Absolute Prohibition on Sole Reliance

Nothing in this App constitutes medical advice. You are absolutely prohibited from using the App output as the sole basis for any insulin dosing decision. All outputs must be independently verified with a qualified healthcare professional before any insulin is administered. The App does not establish any professional-patient relationship between the developer (DMN) and you.

Nothing in this Application — including any calculated value, label, hint, example, default parameter, or any other content — constitutes medical advice, a clinical recommendation, a diagnosis, a prognosis, a treatment plan, or a prescription. The user is absolutely prohibited from using the Application output as the sole basis for any insulin dosing decision. All outputs must be independently verified with a qualified healthcare professional (endocrinologist, diabetologist, or certified diabetes educator) before any insulin is administered. The Application does not establish, and shall not be construed to establish, a physician-patient, pharmacist-patient, or any other professional-patient relationship between the developer (DMN) and the user. Reliance on any output, calculation, default value, or other content provided by the Application is entirely at the user own risk.

Limitation of Liability

The developer (DMN) has zero liability for any loss, harm, injury, or damage of any kind arising from use of this App — including personal injury, hypoglycaemia, hyperglycaemia, calculation errors, data loss, downtime, or third-party service failures. Use of this App is entirely at your own risk.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable mandatory law, the developer (DMN), and any contributors, licensors, hosting providers, or affiliated parties, shall have zero liability for any loss, harm, injury, or damage of any kind arising out of or related to the use of, or inability to use, the Application. This includes without limitation:

personal injury, bodily harm, disability, or death resulting from incorrect insulin dosing;
hypoglycaemia, hyperglycaemia, diabetic ketoacidosis, or any other acute or chronic medical event;
errors, inaccuracies, rounding differences, or omissions in any calculated output;
data loss or corruption in localStorage or browser cache;
unavailability, downtime, or malfunction of the Application, including in offline or cached mode;
actions or omissions of third-party services integrated with the Application, including Google AdSense, GitHub Pages infrastructure, or any CDN;
use of a cached or outdated version of the Application that may contain superseded content or calculations;
any reliance on the Application by a third party, including a minor, regardless of whether the developer was aware of such use.

This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory asserted (contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise), and even if the developer has been advised of the possibility of such damages. The developer shall not be liable for any harm, injury, loss, or adverse outcome — direct or indirect — resulting from use of, or reliance on, calculations provided by this application.

No Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty of any kind. No guarantee of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any purpose. Always verify results with a healthcare professional.

The Application is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty of any kind, express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to: implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability. The developer makes no warranty that:

the Application will be free of errors, bugs, or inaccuracies;
the bolus formula implemented reflects the user individual clinical protocol;
cached or offline versions of the Application are current or correct;
the Application will be available at any particular time or from any particular location;
the Application will function correctly on any particular device, operating system, or browser.

No oral or written communication from the developer shall create any warranty not expressly stated in these Terms.

Regulatory Status

This App is not a certified medical device. It has not been reviewed, cleared, or approved by the FDA (USA), EMA (EU), or any other regulatory authority. It does not carry a CE mark and has not undergone a conformity assessment procedure. This application is not a certified medical device and has not been approved by any regulatory authority (FDA, EMA, or equivalent).

The Application has not been submitted to, reviewed by, cleared, approved, or certified by any regulatory authority, including:

the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under the FD&C Act;
the European Medicines Agency (EMA) or any national competent authority under EU MDR 2017/745 or IVDR 2017/746;
any other national health technology authority worldwide.

The Application does not carry a CE mark and has not undergone any conformity assessment procedure. It is not classified as Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) by the developer, and the developer makes no claim of clinical validation. Users in all jurisdictions are solely responsible for ensuring their use of the Application complies with applicable local laws and regulations.

User Responsibility and Acknowledgement

You are fully and solely responsible for all insulin dosing decisions. By using this App you confirm you will not dose based solely on its output, that you have consulted or will consult a healthcare professional, and that you understand the App does not account for active insulin on board (IOB).

By using the Application, the user expressly and irrevocably acknowledges and agrees that:

the user assumes full, sole, and exclusive responsibility for all insulin dosing decisions and any resulting outcomes, whether or not the Application was used in making such decisions;
the user will not administer any insulin dose based solely or primarily on the Application output without independent verification;
the user has consulted, or will consult prior to any dosing decision, a qualified healthcare professional regarding their individual insulin therapy parameters (ICR, ISF, target glucose range);
individual physiological variation, illness, stress, physical activity, and other factors may cause actual insulin effects to differ materially from any calculated value;
the Application does not account for active insulin on board (IOB), and that failure to account for IOB may result in overdose;
the user is 18 years of age or older;
the user accepts these Terms in their entirety as a binding condition of use.

Age Restriction

This App is not intended for persons under 18 without direct parental or guardian supervision. Use by under-18s without supervision is prohibited. The developer assumes no liability for harm arising from unauthorised use by a minor.

Governing Law, Dispute Resolution & General Provisions

These Terms are governed by the laws of Poland (the developer's jurisdiction of domicile). EU users retain all statutory rights under GDPR and EU consumer protection law. If any provision is held invalid, the remainder continues in full force. These Terms together with the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and the developer.

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them shall be governed by the laws of Poland (the developer's jurisdiction of domicile) at the time of the dispute, to the extent permitted by applicable law. Regardless of the foregoing, nothing in these Terms limits, excludes, or waives any statutory right that cannot be excluded under mandatory applicable law in the user jurisdiction. In particular:

users located in the European Union retain all non-waivable rights under GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679), EU Directive 2019/771, and any other applicable EU consumer protection legislation;
users located in jurisdictions with mandatory consumer protection statutes retain all rights that cannot be excluded by private agreement under local law;
users located in jurisdictions that require local law to govern retain those rights to the extent mandated by local legislation.

Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable. If modification is not possible, the provision shall be severed, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

No Waiver. The failure of the developer to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. No waiver of any breach shall be deemed a waiver of any subsequent breach.

Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy (incorporated herein by reference), constitute the entire agreement between the user and the developer regarding the Application and supersede all prior agreements, representations, or understandings.
