This Privacy Policy describes how the Insulin Dose Calculator web application (the "App") collects, uses and protects user information. By using the App, you agree to this policy.

The App uses your browser's localStorage to store: calculation history (up to 20 entries), your cookie consent, language preference, theme preference, and install banner state. This data never leaves your device. You can delete it anytime by clearing site data in your browser settings.

If you clicked "Essential only" in the cookie banner, no third-party services are loaded.

5. Your rights (GDPR)

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to withdraw consent, access your data, and request deletion — all of which can be done by clearing localStorage in your browser, as we hold no data on servers.

6. Data Retention and Local Storage

Calculation history is stored locally on your device only (via browser localStorage). It is never transmitted to any server. A maximum of 20 entries are retained; older entries are automatically deleted. You may delete all history at any time using the "Clear History" function in the app.

Consent records (Terms acceptance timestamp and version) are also stored locally on your device. The developer does not maintain server-side records of individual user consent.

Language and theme preferences are stored locally and not transmitted.

6a. Medical Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

The App is intended for informational purposes only. It does not constitute medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making insulin dosing decisions.

The developer shall not be liable for any harm, injury, loss, or adverse outcome — direct or indirect — resulting from use of, or reliance on, calculations provided by this application. This includes but is not limited to incorrect dosing, hypoglycaemia, hyperglycaemia, or any other medical event.

6b. Third-Party Fonts (Google Fonts)

The App loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com). When your browser requests these fonts, your IP address is transmitted to Google's servers. This constitutes processing of personal data under GDPR. Google's use of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. The fonts are cached by the app's Service Worker after the first load; subsequent use does not require a network request to Google.

6c. Third-Party Donations (Ko-fi)

The App contains a link to Ko-fi (ko-fi.com/insulo_app), a voluntary donation platform operated by Ko-fi Labs Limited (Ireland). If you click the Ko-fi link, you will be redirected to Ko-fi's website. The developer does not receive any personal data as a result of you visiting Ko-fi. Ko-fi's own privacy policy governs any data collected during the donation process: ko-fi.com/legal. Clicking the Ko-fi link or making a donation is entirely voluntary and does not affect the functionality of the App.

6d. Privacy-Friendly Analytics (Plausible)

The App uses Plausible Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (pages visited, country, device type). Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and is fully GDPR-compliant. No data is shared with advertisers. See plausible.io/privacy.

6e. Third-Party Advertising (Google AdSense)

The App may display advertising served by Google AdSense. When enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies and device identifiers to serve personalised ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. The "Essential only" option in the consent banner will disable non-essential cookies including advertising cookies.

7. Children

The App is intended for use by persons aged 18 and over. It is not intended for use by persons under 18 without direct supervision of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

8. Changes & Re-consent

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.

When we make material changes to this Policy, we will increment the policy version number stored in the application. On your next visit after a version change, the consent banner will reappear and you will be asked to make an explicit choice. We will not rely on "continued use of the App" as a basis for consent to revised terms — continued use alone does not constitute valid consent under GDPR Article 7.
